When Mary Farrell, a retired teacher, returned to Northern Ireland from S.W. France in 2017, she joined her first Creative Writing Group. She has since become a facilitator for the writing groups Words Inc in Coleraine, Sanderlings in Portstewart, and the All-Ireland group Write So! via Zoom. She is also active in the literary community as an Assistant Editor for Impspired Publishing, as a judge for the Reedsy Publishing Company Weekly Competition and as a Professional Member of the Irish Writers Society.
Her literary publications include three general collections, a creative writing manual, and The Circle Trilogy. She has edited three anthologies, and also organizes two annual performance events, Flash Fiction Portrush and Soundwaves, both held in Portrush.
Her work extends to radio, having been featured on BBC Radio Ulster, and she is an active performer at various literary events. Her short story, "A Tale of a Barn," was recorded by Ciaran Hinds. Her writings in prose and poetry have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies worldwide.
